Colonial Life Arena Goes Green

Colonial Life Arena, managed by Global Spectrum, takes action to set up a recycling program to make the arena more environmentally friendly through a grant funded by Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) in conjunction with the City of Columbia.

This grant will kick start recycling efforts at the arena by placing recycling containers throughout the concourse and premium areas. Plastic, aluminum, clear glass and paper will be collected and recycled.

“This is a big step in the right direction to get the community involved in our efforts to be environmentally friendly at all of our events,” said Tom Paquette, General Manager for Colonial Life Arena.

Sounds great! A somewhat related question… What happened to the recycling bags that were given out at the first home game in the fairgrounds? I thought that was wonderful, but I haven’t seen them since. (I will admit that we are in the absolute furthest part of the green lot, so maybe we’re just missing them.)
