Brad Senkiw of the Anderson Independent Mail wrote a quality piece on Coach Horn and his emphasis on building relationships with his players. Click here to read the full article.
“I think a year in, and I can’t speak for them, but I’d hope that they would see that we’re going to believe in them, we’re going to back them, support them and help them grow in every way that we can,” said Horn, a father of two. “At the same time, we’re going to challenge them quite a bit. They seem to be playing hard, which is how I measure it, and as long as that’s happening, I think we’re getting through.”
Horn’s basis for success is predicated on two aspects: on the court and off the court.
“I think the hardest thing to do with the way we coach is for young people to separate what happens on the court from what happens off the court,” Horn said. “We’re fairly demanding and we’re brutally honest. That’s hard for all of us — human nature — to accept sometimes. We feel that’s what’s going to make them their best on the court and we feel that’s what’s going to prepare them for life.”
