The Garnet Army lined up outside of the Colonial Life Arena on Wednesday night ready to participate in the pep rally that preceded the Gamecocks conference home opener against LSU. The first 1,500 students received a Garnet Army t-shirt. Five Guys in the Vista provided the food, and students were able to participate in games to win prizes leading up to tip off. One student was lucky enough to take home an iPod touch.
Excitement grew as game time approached, and the pep rally came to an end after Coach Darrin Horn visited the student section to shake hands with members of the Garnet Army. James Roper, a marketing, management, and real estate student at USC, said that he had a good time at the pep rally and he hoped the Garnet Army would put in a strong effort and be loud throughout the game. Other students agreed that the pep rally was a success, and they said that they would like to see more events like it in the future.
