Sarah Cline Feature

If you’re in Columbia, tune to WIS tonight as they’ll run a feature on volleyball senior libero Sarah Cline at 11 p.m. A short format of the piece will run at 5:30 p.m. tonight with the full piece airing at 11 p.m.

The rally-scoring era single-season record-holder with 495 digs this year, Cline is two digs away from topping Diane Denton’s 21-year-old school career record of 1,462. The senior also holds a piece of the single-match record for digs, making 36 against Arkansas on Nov. 2, 2007. A three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member, Cline made the SEC’s Community Service Team for volleyball in 2007. Cline was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Second Team this week.

Cocks Crow: On Tap Plus Links

We’re finally starting to get into the fall season.  It’s been a long summer for me without any Gamecock sports.  The first official home event starts tonight (men’s soccer was an exhibition) and we’re also just seven days away from football season.  Here’s what’s going on today:

  • Women’s soccer hosts College of Charleston tonight at Stone Stadium at 7 p.m.  Tonight is Faculty/Staff Night.  Students that show their ID at the game will receive free pizza.  Regular ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth.
  • If you’re going to be in the Vista tonight or plan on going to Coach Spurrier’s call-in show, get there a little early for the Carolina Calls Pep Rally at Wild Wing in the Vista.  The band Tokyo Joe will play before and after the call-in show (which runs from 7-8 p.m.) while the band and cheer team will peform at 6:30 p.m.

And here’s some links from around the web:

The Closer: The International

Did you know? South  Carolina senior outside hitter Ivana Kujundzic continues a streak that will be at 14 years for the volleyball team to have an international student on the roster.  Kujundzic was named to the preseason All-SEC team today and has led the Gamecocks in kills each of the last two years.
